Projection Mapping 101: How Light Turns into Architecture

Projection mapping is essentially the art of using light as a building material.

Instead of projecting onto a flat screen, projection mapping allows visuals to wrap around real-world surfaces , walls, sculptures, stages, buildings, even moving objects. The content is designed to fit the exact shape of what it’s projected onto, so the surface itself becomes part of the animation.

From the outside, it can feel almost magical. Internally, it’s a mix of technical planning and creative problem-solving.

Every projection-mapped project starts with the space. We measure it, model it, and understand how people will move through it. Only then do we design visuals that respond to those dimensions.
